Collected Poems Volume One 1995-2003

by Scott Ransopher

One of the most curious and enjoyable aspects of poetry is that a poem often summarizes a thought, an experience, or an emotion in a manner that cannot be equaled by prose. Perhaps that is why lines of poetry are quoted so often by writers and speakers. Frequently, nothing sums up a situation like a line or phrase of verse can do. --from Introduction...

Echoes of Desire: English Petrarchism and Its Counterdiscourses

by Heather Dubrow

Echoes of Desire variously invokes and interrogates a number of historicist and feminist premises about Tudor and Stuart literature by examining the connections between the anti-Petrarchan tradition and mainstream Petrarchan poetry. It also addresses some of the broader implications of contemporary critical methodologies. Heather Dubrow offers an alternative to the two predominant models used in previous treatments of Petrarchism: the all-powerful poet and silenced mistress on the one hand and the poet as subservient patron on the other....

Robots and Rabbits: Poetry, Prose, and Sometimes-Researched Thoughts

by Anthony Sciarini

Robots and Rabbits represents at least a decade of thoughts on topics both safe and controversial, serious and funny. You will find entries about video games and sports, fear and hope, music and dating, and much more. Started as a blog in 2009, this work includes research on these topics, as well as my own experiences and musings on everyday life. It includes short stories, as well, and ends with a sizable section of poetry. It is a work that can be put away and picked up again with no loss of meaning, for the entries stand independent of one another. Those with a curiosity on a variety of topics will enjoy the assortment of topics found here. Many, but not all, of the entries relate to Christian living, and so may be more appealing to a Christian audience. However, the variety of topics m...

The Faerie Queene [Annotated] (The Reader's Library Book 16)

by Edmund Spenser

Edmund Spenser (1552?-1599) was an English Renaissance poet often considered to be the foremost poet of his time by many of his contemporaries. His early career, much like Virgil's, was spent writing pastoral and elegiac verse, but The Faerie Queene is his masterpiece, an unfinished allegorical epic intended to depict Aristotle's twelve moral virtues (twelve also being the number of books subsequently divided into twelve cantos for a proper epic), though he was only able to finish six. The poem is written entirely in what has come to be known as the Spenserian stanza: nine lines, eight of iambic pentameter followed by one of iambic hexameter rhyming ababbcbcc. The fairy queen, Gloriana, represents the glory of heaven and Queen Elizabeth I simultaneously. She is holding her twelve-day feast...

Free Poetry For Starving Luchadors

by Joseph Randazzo

Joseph Randazzo is a writer from Long Island who spent several years in the dank, uncreative, gossipy world of news and entertainment writing. After realizing these fields were endeavors meant for the spiritually dead and uncreative, he embarked on a journey which found him writing poetry and fiction.

These 400+ poems were written in the winter and springtime months of 2016. Some are absurd. Some are political. Some show an adoration for the world of professional wrestling.

His Instagram page, @ChokeslamPoet, is where you can find daily updates of his work. You can also find the book's cover illustrator, Lisa Terrana, on Instagram as well. @Terranasaur is where you can get a glimpse of the brain child behind the Lucha Poodle....

Maya

by Jeffrey Koh

The work here is about disillusionment, of what we see and experience each day. We value so much what isn’t ours to have. Sacrifice so much to find that in the end, we are the ones that betrayed ourselves. Everything is temporal, the physical and the spiritual and the two often fall on separate laws.

This is a work of fiction and I wrote it in the hopes that we may live our lives differently.
