I truly loved everything about this story. "- Zena, Amazon Review"Bree doesn’t disappoint! She addresses issues without hesitation! Lady physicals, unmarried pregnancy, and more. IX: Britannia's Lost Legion

by Stephen Donald Huff

Near the turn of the first century, the Ninth Legion disappeared from frontier borderlands separating Romanized Britannia from the uncivilized lowlands of Caledonia. Between its first deployment there during Agricola’s invasion in 84AD and the return of Emperor Hadrian in 122AD, all mention of the Ninth fades from memory. Although history speaks clearly of a massive uprising in the same region during 119AD, no authenticated record confirms the legion’s military annihilation on a field of battle, and no evidence confirms its reassignment to any other region of the empire. Contemporary Rome, and all of history, seems to have simply forgotten the Ninth. Until now.Recent archeological discoveries clarify the legion’s fate. As outlined in a unique letter penned two-thousand-years ago on a carefully preserved swatch of parchment, Legio IX’s mysterious destiny is a tale of political intrigue, financial mismanagement, familial in-fighting, and social upheaval, all intermixed with the unyielding discipline required to keep a Roman legion safe in the field. For the first time since these events unfolded, the fully restored “Governor’s Letter” identifies the men, women and children that collectively contrived the disaster. More informatively, the famed missive also clearly implicates its author as a central conspiratorial architect of the plot that resulted in the bloody revolt of 119AD and Legio IX’s puzzling disappearance. Bold and thought-provoking, this account of the Ninth’s intriguing doom rises from factual foundations constructed of moldering parchments, crumbling bones and toppled stones, all base materials of history’s reconstruction.

Shearwater: A Mermaid Romance

by D.S. Murphy

MERMAIDS ARE REAL...And they're going to kill us all. My life was ripped away from me when my parents died in a car accident. After moving to Ireland to live with a grandfather I didn't even know existed, I discovered my mother's past was filled with unresolved drama - dark secrets screaming to be uncovered. Strange things keep happening around me. Happening to me. Is it because of Sebastian, the golden-haired hunk who showed up in town at the same time as I did? Or Ethan, the brooding hottie locals whisper plays with dark magic?Maybe both... or neither. But someone is definitely out to get me, and I need to figure out why, and fast. I'm discovering powers of my own--powers I can't contain. If I don't discover who is after me or the real reason my mother fled Ireland, more people are going to die. WHAT READERS ARE SAYING"A thrilling urban fantasy romance set in Ireland. The story revolves around Irish mythology and the clash between an ancient race of witches and the merrow (mermaids), who are preparing to wipe out civilization. Fans of Percy Jackson, Nancy Drew and Twilight will love this epic adventure that keeps you guessing till the last page." -Imlovingbooks.com ★★★★★ "Not just another Twilight--even though we do have sparkly mermaids instead of sparkly vampires. But the story itself is well told and the characters act and respond like real people instead of cardboard cutouts. The mystic premise of the mer-people is even almost believable in the context of the Irish coastal culture, and the interactions between the characters are more encompassing than just the make-believe of the story. Although it's written for young adults, as a mainstream adult I found the story entertaining and readable, and even subscribed to the author's site to get the next installment as well as his other books." ★★★★★"The author's writing and editing is impeccable, and his research is substantial. I feel like I'm at the exotic locales described. His backstory and science behind the mermaid phenomenon is solidly explained and more than adequate to suspend my disbelief. The author also presents a lot of this backstory as not an info-dump, so kudos for that." ★★★★★>>This is ++BOOK ONE (COMPLETE)++ of the Ocean Depths Series.

Esting: Codex Primus - Book I

by Stephan Schaffrath

A small village in the Roman province of Raetia is pulled into the chaos of war as hordes of Suebian warriors plunder and pillage their way through the Empire's borderlands in the 3rd Century C.E./A.D.. The village's militia leaders, Montanus and Glaucus, are young men who were installed by their mother, the village leader. They are struggling to survive under tremendous pressure. Most of the Roman legions had been called away to fight in other parts of the Empire, so the locals are left to fend for themselves and to deal with the threats of invaders. To complicate things further, refugees flock to the village, bringing a new religion and culture with them. And, being young men, Montanus and Glaucus of course seek to define their place in society. This is the first book in a series of historical fiction, based on what little is known about the early history of the modern-day real village of Esting in what is now the German state of Bavaria. Today, Esting is incorporated within the city of Olching, which is a suburb of the Bavarian capital, Munich. Visitors to Esting are still able to cross the river Ambra (today is is called "Amper") as they travel on the Römerstrasse (literally "Roman Road"), and they may visit the medieval church of St. Stephanus, which likely rests on older foundations, possibly reaching back to late antiquity. This is a story of fiction of what might have transpired in a time when no one had the luxury of taking one's survival for granted and when many new and strange people threatened the status quo and the people's way of life. It is a story about the history of central Europe in late antiquity, as it is about humanity in general.

My Fair Assassin: Allies Of The Fae Realm Fated Mates Romance (Paranormal Misfits Book 1)

by C.J. Anaya

It's not everyday a teenage girl is singled out for assassination.

Crysta has come to accept the fact that she is freakishly different. Her shocking white hair, creepy powers, and weird eating habits have prevented her from fitting in with her various foster families. Now that she is fully emancipated and providing for herself, she hopes that life will settle down and become something halfway normal.

Her hopes are shattered when a dangerous man with lethal intent breaks into her apartment, but this enticing stranger isn't what he seems. Is he here to kill her or protect her from others who will?

My Fair Assassin is a romantic short story with elements of paranormal and urban fantasy woven in for an entertaining read. It also touches on social issues involving personal self-esteem and acceptance. Adults and teens alike will enjoy getting lost in the pages of Crysta's story as she finally comes to accept who she is...or rather what she is.

His movements as he studied me and my dingy apartment were stiff and watchful. His expression was that of guarded
curiosity, and when my cat, Nala, made a small whining noise from my bedroom down the hall, his stance came to attention and his arm muscles went taut as he withdrew a small dagger from a sheath at his waist.

Honestly, where had this guy come from, and why weren’t we dating?

Oh, yeah. He was here to kill me.

“It’s just my cat,” I said, raising my hands in a placating gesture. “My roommate, Jami, is out of town for the weekend.”

“What?” He lowered his dagger and stared me down.

I didn’t feel threatened by his gaze. I almost felt drawn to it and wondered if he was as curious about me as I was about him.

Stupid! I am so stupid.

Any other recently emancipated seventeen-year-old would have run screaming around her apartment in an attempt to get her
worthless, noisy neighbors to call the cops, or at the very least, come to her aid.

Not me, apparently. Nope. I was content to stare at the gorgeous criminal before me with all thoughts of fight or flight escaping my slow-witted mental processes.
