Dwarven Gold: Tale #1 of the Ironkin Chronicles

by Jared Rites

A washed up dwarven smith fights to survive after leaving trouble behind in his homeland. When Rowan attempts to get the bounty off his head… a cascade of arduous trials reshapes his destiny. Tested to the limits, many would have him fail.

Can this dwarf rise from the ashes and change his fate? Read DWARVEN GOLD and find out!

Interview with the Author
Q: What’s the main idea behind the Ironkin Chronicles?

A: One of the motifs I like working with is succeeding despite normalcy. Rowan is not a superhero, his main trait is self belief. Like you or me he has moments of self doubt, but he works through them. He’s very human... for a dwarf.

Q: That sounds like a powerful theme, surprising that you say he's normal.

A: Normal, absolutely; again, for a dwarf. I feel it makes him more relatable. I love characters like Legolas from Lord of the Rings, but I find it hard to relate when characters seem so perfect. Rowan does become more powerful with time, but it’s earned through his journey.

Q: What makes this book, Dwarven Gold, different from other titles out there?

A: This tale is very action packed, especially as it progresses, but it provides enough context for the action to matter and make sense. I like to keep the reader guessing, just when you think you have things figured out they take a turn… or will take a turn eventually. When I read, if the language is too detailed and flowery... I find myself distracted. I try to find a balance between description, and trusting the reader’s imagination to paint the scene.

I love reading fiction such as R.A. Salvatore novels, I draw plenty of inspiration from his style of presenting action in these tales.

Sorry, a bit of a tangent. What excites me most about this series, and what I feel is different, is the progression you’ll see not only in Rowan’s abilities, gear, riches, and aspirations; but how he gains perspective on the world around him.

Q: Will we see any love interests?

A: Tale #1 really sets the stage for quite a few things, but like all good things it'll take some time to grow. :)

Q: If someone hasn’t read one of your previous titles, can they read this and not get lost?

A: Absolutely. My books try not to get buried in prose, titles, descriptions, and so on. I like being clear, and straight to the point. From a plot standpoint, since this is Tale #1 there’s no better place to start!

Q: What are you excited about for future titles?

A: Tale #2 is on the way with some serious surprises for the readers, it builds on Tale #1 really diving into more of the tension and development of Rowan as a character and how he works with those around him.

Q: Anything you would like to say to your fans?

A: As an independent author, I live and die (almost literally ha) by the reviews left on my books. I am so appreciative of those who take the time to leave reviews. When readers are as invested in these characters as I am, there’s no better feeling.

Their passion for the tales is the best advertising I’m able to get. Their reviews truly do matter! They keep more tales coming, coffee in my mug, and the house from freezing in the winter. :)

Q: You’re a composer as well, will there be a themed soundtrack for this series?

A: I certainly plan on it. It comes down largely to how the title is received, and if the readers would actually want it. I want to make sure I’m putting them first on where I commit my time. That being said, music done right really brings a world to life----so time permitting we’ll see what happens.

Q: I’m really curious about the battles, you hinted at some pretty epic fights?

A: Yes! Climactic and tension filled, I'm very happy with how some of the scenes played out. I feel readers will enjoy them immensely.

SQUARING THE CIRCLE

by B. K. Brain

Physicist Sam Jacobson has made an astounding discovery: A particle that serves as a direct line of communication to the fabric of spacetime. If a person conveys expectations to the cosmos, as he now can, reality answers in kind. Want to create a black hole in the laboratory? Done. Make yourself bullet-proof? No problem. But with great power comes great insanity. Left unhindered, the evolution of man into God could come to a horrific, world-ending conclusion. Two strangers, entangled like a pair of fundamental particles, are the only ones who can stop him. The first is David Sandoval, the executive producer of a once-popular television show, and he isn't ready to retire just yet. His program will be canceled by the network unless he can find a way to improve the ratings. An invitation to a mysterious laboratory might be the miracle he's looking for. The second is a girl named Eddie. Pissing off her overbearing mother, popping psychotropic medications, trying to ignore the voices - these are the sum total of nineteen-year-old Eddie's life. But when forced into a surreal connection with the creator of her favorite science program, her world changes forever. Eddie's meds aren't working, but that's okay. She doesn't dare ignore the voices now.

The Kiss of Death (The Demons' Muse Book 1)

by Auryn Hadley

I always imagined Death's final kiss would be cold. It wasn't.Four years later, I can still remember the exact shade of his skin: a blue so pale it looked like moonlight. I dream of his touch. Mostly, I paint the man under the heavy cowl, including those perfect lips which ruined mine for anyone else. I'm obsessed with him. The doctors say he's nothing more than a hallucination caused by a mixture of head trauma and emergency pain medications. I think he's a really sexy figment of my imagination. I mean, who besides an artist would dream up the Grim Reaper for their hero? Now, something's changed and my drawings are taking on a life of their own. As if college wasn't hard enough, trying to keep this a secret is going to be impossible. Keeping my sanity might be worse. And that's not the worst of my problems.Death is back. He wants another kiss. And he's not alone. The Kiss of Death is a 156,000 word, full-length novel with NO cliffhanger ending. This is a Reverse Harem series which includes multiple love interests, some m/m themes, and graphic scenes of sex, violence, and language. Be warned: everything you thought you knew about the world, religion, and death will be pulled apart, twisted around, and put back together in ways you will not expect.

Jax and Alyssa quickly discover their undeniable chemistry, but is it enough to reconcile them? What happens when the pet breaks out of his cage?Note to reader: This is a standalone novel featuring a romance between a human and a human-alien hybrid. 2022 (Percipience Book 1)

by Ken Kroes

If you are comfy with just recycling your soda cans and want to continue to believe that your children and grandchildren will have roughly the same experience with this planet as you have had, then this book and the rest of the Percipience series may not be for you. Through this fast paced eco-fiction series, the author lightly touches on key points of our relationship with the planet and the growing urgency for each of us to take action to avoid a much darker future for our children. The story line of 2022, revolves around a world-wide threat made by an eco-terrorist organization and the efforts to stop them while at the same time setting up a large scale experiment for sustainable living. The book combines murder, espionage, romance and revenge into the fictional story while exploring the urgency of global issues we face in real life. This book, along with the others in the Percipience series are not just meant to entertain and to raise awareness of important issues. They are also aim to act as a catalyst to get the reader to think and motivate them to take individual actions to help with these worldwide problems. From the back cover of 2022...Using an uncanny ability to harvest information to predict the future, philanthropist Richard foresees a dark future for the human race. This future is exacerbated by the return of cold-war-like tensions, sophisticated terrorist organizations, and new controls on information flow. He believes he knows what needs to be done to reverse the trend, but can it be achieved in time, even with the resources at his disposal? Should he turn to terrorism to make it work? And if he's wrong, and his plan backfires, will it mean the end of most, or all, of the human race?
