Wild Side: Book #1 Kari Stillwell Series

by Kelly Goode

Book #1 in the Kari Stillwell series

Book Description

Kari Stillwell longs to be normal, but being born with white hair and the ability to control air lands her in trouble more often than not. She doesnt go looking for danger; it just knows where to find her.

Working as an investigator for a supernatural law firm, she is tasked with finding a missing girl who police believe died at the hands or rather fangs of her vampire boyfriend.

The search takes Kari to Wild Side, a nightclub that has no trouble living up to its name. Its a place for humans to fulfil their dark fantasies whilst the blood flows freely on tap.

Aided by a sexy vampire (who can read her mind) and a secretive shape-shifter (who just so happens to be in the right place at the right time whenever she needs him), Kari realises that in order to survive the game that she has been forced into playing she might have to become something she fears.

Cooper Collection 222 (One Good Turn)

by Bill Bernico

Not every case the Coopers take on involves a shootout or a car chase. Sometimes it just seems as if there's nothing they can do for their clients and they're about to give up when a clue falls into their laps. This was one of those times. While Matt is out with a wrenched knee, Nick takes the case of a woman who wants to find the brother she hasn't seen in thirty years. It's hard enough to find someone who's been missing 48 hours, but thirty years; come on. Where's a P.I. supposed to start looking for a guy like that. He must have a pretty good hiding place. This brother does.

Cooper Collection 199 (Finishing Touch)

by Bill Bernico

In a strange turn of events, Matt experiences a reversal of fortune when he gets a letter from a Sacramento lawyer summoning him to his office. As it turns out, Matt was not the first one to create the hat cam that he had sold to the state law enforcement agencies and which had brought him all his wealth. He's forced to give up all his royalties and is cast back to square one. Meanwhile, Nick answers a call as a result of recent television commercials for Cooper Investigations. He finds himself being offered a lucrative job from the very person who got Matt's millions. What will the future hold for the Coopers now that Veronica will be leaving due to her pregnancy and Nick has taken that other job. Matt will soon find himself alone and the sole proprietor back in the very office his great-grandfather and namesake, Matt started all those years ago by himself.

Author's note: When I finished Cooper story #89, "The Hollister Story," I thought I'd run out of Cooper ideas. Obviously not, as I found 110 more stories hiding in the back of my mind. However, I've come to that same crossroads in my writing career again and I'm starting to feel like this could be it for the Coopers...for now anyway. #200 in the collection is going to be another retrospective of stories 101-199, much like I did for the first retrospective, which covered stories 1-99.

Let me just toss out another idea to some of you creative writers out there. Would any of you budding writers care to collaborate with me on future Cooper stories? You don't even have to be a polished writer to participate. Even if you're just a good idea person who is familiar with the Cooper clan, you can supply the idea, or a rough draft and I can polish it to its final state. You'll get a co-author credit along with my name for your efforts. You'll also get half the income I get from Amazon/Kindle as well as the audio versions on ACX. Give it some thought and let's see what we can do together. You can reach me at wbernico@tds.net

Encounters: intimate

by Annie Anston

In this tale of misbehavior, manipulation, masochism, murder, and betrayal, a young woman experiences a series of sexual encounters, not all of them willingly.

Excerpts:

His hand muffled her call for help as she struggled to escape his strong grasp, began to lose consciousness and became more manageable. He took her to his nearby home where he duct taped her mouth, wrists and ankles.
* * *

From her old diary..
As I look into the bathroom mirror, I'm absorbed by the fact that I'm blonde and adorably cute.

* * *
The two girls made themselves comfortable on the sofa. Allie reached into her handbag and pulled out the night's tips. “Here, Master.”
Darlene looked on, amazed. “Wow, I guess that's what love is all about.”
“No, it's all about relationships, Darlene, not romance. Ours is a control one. She does as I say.”
“Seriously? Is that why she calls you Master? Tell her to bark like a dog.”
“We have to work up to that. Let's have a few drinks first. I rolled a joint. You want a hit?”
“Sure.”
* * *

“There seems to be a pattern in your life, Allie. You work and bring home the bacon, your men do nothing. That and you just said I could abuse you. You want me to treat you badly, don't you. You're a masochist!”
* * *

We make it look like a mugging gone wrong, hit him on his way home from the convenience store late at night. I have a gun.
* * *

People in this neighborhood minded there own business, being afraid of gang retaliation. She could probably have shot someone in the street in broad daylight at rush hour and gotten away with it.
* * *

They headed for the ladies' room and Allie moved her pistol from the backpack into her waistband under her jacket for quick and easy access if needed. She wasn't sure yet if it would be for defense or offense. Elena looked good and she was in the mood for a memorable encounter.
* * *

“Be careful not to make any sudden moves. This model doesn't have a safety.”
She slid the tip of the barrel down across Elena's neck, ran it slowly between her breasts and across her stomach...
* * *

He had a commanding presense, with a dreamy tall, dark, handsome, muscular physique.
“I brought a half-dozen outfits for the girls to model in your photo shoot. They will do whatever you say. Where would you like us?”
“These are our modeling beds. They will be posing here.”
“Take off your clothes, girls, and choose an outfit.”
He had unquestioned authority. All six completely undressed in front of everyone and proceeded to look through the garments.
His intimidating manner made people want to please him. He was adorned in gold jewelry, including a diamond Rolex watch. Don Luis was clearly a man of money and power. Allie wanted to be like him and began envisioning him naked. There was nothing subtle about the man.
“Excuse me, Miss Alexis, but would you please be so kind as to undress, too.”
“You want me to model?”
“No, just undress.”
* * *
You must be the dumbest person ever. You had a good thing going, the business was about to take off. I'm going to get you for this, not today, but soon. You'd better be looking over your shoulder, because I'll be watching you, coming for you. I know how to make a person die slowly and painfully.”
* * *
She would turn her hundred grand into a million, have her own army of minions. She had the tools, the money, the experience at subjugation, the passionate desire to make things happen. The ingredients were in place, now to stir the mix. She bought a laptop to facilitate her research.
Alexis joined groups on Facebook. She discovered the art of networking, met other people with similar interests, got to know their personalities, their wants and needs. Ah, the wonders of the internet age, it was all so easy.
* * *
Alexis now always had both her laptop and pistol with her. She had gotten a concealed carry permit for the gun. She pulled both out of her valise and placed them on her desk. The laptop had a video recor

Tabloid: Episode 2While in jail on Federal obstruction charges, Billy reflects on her story and tries to figure out what she did wrong and who set her up. She relates to her cellmate how a chance meeting with a young girl on the train triggered this entire investigation. Here’s a little peek at what’s inside:I couldn't believe that I was in this situation. This was not what I had envisioned when I wrote the story. "I need to piece a few more things together." I shook my head and took a deep breath. "Jesus, I should've done this way before."“Do you always talk to yourself?” Karen asked. “When I’m thinking, yes.”“What are you thinking about?”I shook my head and sighed. “Nothing.”“I know a lot of people like you.”I looked over at Karen, frowned, and sat beside her. “Like who?”“Thieves and murderers.”I grimaced and said, “I don’t consider myself either.”She nodded her head. “You mind if I give a little insight?”I looked over at her, took a deep breath, and shrugged my shoulders. “Why not? It’s not like I’m going anywhere.”“I didn’t come to the city to fuck. I’m from Iowa. I had big dreams of making it on Broadway. I took a job at what I thought was a modeling agency and ended up with some guy named Fly.” "Fly? You put your dreams in the hands of a man named Fly?" She nodded. "Fly said that he could get me a gig on Broadway. He got me on Broadway alright." She laughed and said, "At a strip joint on Forty-second and Eighth." I chuckled. “Why didn’t you just leave?”She shrugged her shoulders and said, “The money. All I had to do was flash my tits and listen to rich men bitch about their lives.” She leaned back and said, “I don’t consider myself a stripper. I'm more like a topless therapist.”I nodded my head and widened my eyes. “So, why are you locked up?”“One of my clients is some rich pastor of a mega church. He told me something about a bunch of money he stole and now the Feds want to know." She pointed to herself and said, "But I told them that would violate the client confidentiality."“I don’t think…” I rocked my head and took a deep breath. “Nevermind.” She shifted on the bench and said, "I'm a good listener and we're probably here for the next twenty-four hours, so talk to me. Let me help you figure out what you need to find out."I leaned back and crossed my arms. “Sure, why not.”“I find that it’s always good to start from the beginning,” she said.I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and said, "I guess this all began on the six train one day last week."

Cooper Collection 182 (Case Closed)

by Bill Bernico

Jane Greer (no, not the movie star) comes to Cooper investigations, asking Nick to help prove that her husband did not commit suicide, as the police contend, but that he was murdered. August Greer was a partner in Greer and Townsend, a machine shop that made automotive parts. Mr. Townsend mysteriously died two years earlier and now both of their wives are running the business. If either of them were to die, the business would belong to the sole survivor, so who will be the last man (or in this case, woman) standing. The answer may surprise you in this who-done-it with lots of twists.

Cooper Collection 205 (No Place Like Home)

by Bill Bernico

There's no place like home, all right...for a shooting. Veronica has her purse stolen by someone in the ladies rooom of a department store. That thief kept the cash and credit cards but tossed the purse in the trash, but not before letting her boyfriend help himself to Veronica's house to look for even more loot. Too bad it was Kevin's day off and he was home asleep when the intruder let himself in. Cooper also takes the case of a personnel director asking him to look into the background of a possible hire for his company. What he finds should be enough to ensure that the potential employee does not get hired. At least that's what you'd think, but all is not as it seems in this tale of deceit and crime.
