The Slaughtered Virgin of Zenopolis: A funny urban crime comedy fantasy that will have you laughing out loud (Inspector Capstan Book 1)

by David Blake

Inspector Capstan attempts to stop a certain Miss Philips from invading Bath with her Roman Army.

"A well-observed comic novel that is actually, genuinely, laugh-out loud funny."
Stevie O'Connor, Amazon.co.uk

"Absurd comedy of the style Douglas Adams used to grace us with has been in short supply since he left for what has been, I must say, an unreasonably long tea time. Though many have attempted to fill in during his absence, this work comes closer than anything I've since read without sounding like it's specifically trying to fill those sweaty, beer-soaked loafers."
Clifford Hall, Amazon.com

INTRODUCTION
Detective Inspector Capstan investigates a murder at Bath's almost famous Basin Museum, a hapless armed robbery, the theft of ancient Roman weaponry and the answer to “one across” in the local newspaper. Meanwhile, the city is under threat of Roman invasion and their leader, Becky Philips, is taking no prisoners.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
David Blake is the author of the brand new series of laugh out loud Inspector Capstan books. This first one is a funny British black comedy that has little mystery and not much murder, but is packed full of fast-paced dark humour. Some people have said that it’s been written in the style of the late, great Tom Sharpe, but Tom was a comic genius, David sadly isn’t. This is just a darkly humorous fictional story, available on Kindle, and about a British detective who’s probably in the wrong line of work. That’s it really, but he’s been told that people do actually “laugh out loud” when they read it, allegedly.

“This man is simply scary. There is both a clinical thoroughness and a heartfelt emotional thoroughness to his writing. He manages to shock as well as empathize, to scare as well as acclimatize, yet beneath it all is a well read intelligence that demands to be engaged. I loved Blood Related. Ordinarily I hate serial killer stories, but William Cook won me over. He is a unique and innovative talent.”

Deception

by Dan Lawton

A quartet's heist built on vengeance is detoured by greed, love, murder, and ulterior motives.

The Zved's have killed the Sheriff. Adrian "Snake" Stephenson is at the helm of the Zved's. Billy Lewis' father was the Sheriff; now he wants revenge and Snake is his target. George Sanders just wants to withstand the firestorm and move on with his life.

Topeka, Kansas is home to the Zved’s, a notorious group of wealthy hitmen who aren’t afraid to make bold moves if it means saving themselves. Billy Lewis, a local cop working for his father, knows that first hand. After his father is killed, Billy is forced to take the reins of caring for his well-meaning but mentally unstable brother, Frank.

When Billy stumbles upon Alicia Diaz – a mysterious, benevolent, and beautiful Cuban immigrant – they join forces to conspire to steal enough money from the Zved’s to live out their days in hiding, all the while going after the heart of the matter: Vengeance for the death of Billy’s father.

George Sanders is simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. A lifelong resident of Topeka and with no family or close friends, George is longing for companionship. When he is swept off his feet and seduced by a voluptuous outsider, he thinks he’s been given the gift he’s always dreamed of. But what he doesn’t realize is that his worst nightmare is yet to come.

Weeks later, after not having heard from her since their one night rendezvous, George is faced with a life-changing dilemma, and it’s one in which he can’t let pass him by. With the promise of being able to walk away with all that he’s ever wanted, George agrees to do the unthinkable.

Plotting and actually stealing the money from the Zved’s is one thing, but when something goes terribly wrong and their cover is blown, a battle for survival ensues. Between seeking revenge, fighting for family, and a boiling love triangle filled with sexual tension and ulterior motives, not everyone is guaranteed to make it out alive.

The Hunger of Those Left Unfed

I should have listened to the old man. He said it wasn't bound to a place, or any piece of earth. "Houses aren't haunted," he said. "People are."This is my story. Of when I was young. When I thought superstition was a lie that spilled from senile mouths. Was only seen by cataracted eyes.I thought I could walk away. That a safe harbor would protect me. Cliffhanger (A Cliffhanger Novel Book 1)

by T.J. Middleton

‘Perfectly paced, with sly wit and a blackly humorous ending’ - Sunday Telegraph
It sounded simple enough.

‘Audrey,’ I said. ‘Audrey, why don’t we go out, for a stroll?’

‘In this weather?’

‘Clear the cobwebs,’ I said, pulling on my boots, and she shrugged her shoulders and said, ‘Why not?’

Cause I’m going to shove you over the bloody cliff, Audrey, that’s why not.

Al Greenwood has decided to kill his wife, and he’s planned the perfect murder. But things don’t turn out quite the way he hoped and Al finds himself committing more crimes to cover his tracks.

Seen through the eyes of the totally despicable yet strangely likeable Al, Cliffhanger is a black comedy at its most thrilling, taking the reader on a hilarious ride through middle England and the murderous psyche.

T.J. Middleton is a unique and exciting voice, full of biting wit. Sharp, original and hugely entertaining, this is crime writing at its bizarre best.
