Mommy is a Project Manager.

by Mei Lin

In reading stories to my son, I realized that there were very few books written that focus on working mothers. I wrote a book that I could read to my son, Blake Andrews, so he could understand how my two roles as Mother and Project Manager relate to each other. This book will strive to highlight positive examples of working mothers as role models in today's world.Additionally, the intent of the book is to have a story that parents will enjoy reading for their children. And finally, it has vibrant illustrations that bring the concepts to life and children will enjoy it visually. Ups and Downs

by Tsvetana Bombeva

A deliciously funny read-aloud picture book of 5 separate stories about dealing with life’s challenges and the fun of riding the Ups and Downs of life. BOOM!!! The balloon popped in the air and the elephant fell into a chair. Only it wasn’t just any chair, but the throne of the king. The giraffe started to dance and the monkey started to sing:“Sound the trumpets, let the bells ring, we have a new king!”Bright illustrations and playful rhymes come together in this collection of fun stories that's sure to teach valuable lessons to kids that life is full of both success and disappointment. That there are good times and bad times. That when there are Downs, there are sure to be Ups. And vice versa. Like the elephant with the balloon that flies away to his dream lagoon where he is King of the Jungle, until the lion returns to expel the elephant and reclaim his throne. Parents will love reading this humorous book over and over again to their kids, teaching them five valuable lessons that will endure for a lifetime:1)If you become successful, don’t forget your friends and the people who made you successful.2)If you go on adventures, you should do no wrong, instead find out where you truly belong.3)There is no pleasure in life without pain.4)Don’t play cat and mouse games if you are the mouse.5)Don’t expect the Ups of life to last forever, because the Downs won’t last forever either. A bestselling book in Bulgaria, brought to the English-speaking audience. A perfect kid-combo. From the kangaroo who would only hop for a soda pop, to the rat who got a splendid idea to put a collar on the house cat, Ups and Downs is jam-packed with bedtime stories. Each tale uses rhyming verses and a lively cast of characters to create an entertaining view of the world that will teach every child to enjoy life no matter what.

With each trip, I found less and less marine species and bleached corals cities as a reminder of the devastating effects of pollution. Golden Skye of Ansgar (2nd Edition): A Windflower Saga Middle Grade Novel and the Short Story "Fly, Percy, Fly!" (The Windflower Saga)

by Aleksandra Layland

This is the second edition of the middle grade fiction novel "Golden Skye of Ansgar" from the epic fantasy book series, the Windflower Saga, and also includes a non-fiction short story about the rescue of the real Percy the Parrot, after whom a fictional bird character is named, from animal hoarders and his learning to fly after living only in a cage for the first ten years of his life. Set in a medieval-like world, "Golden Skye of Ansgar" is a short middle-grade story based on characters from the epic fantasy novel "Of Wisdom and Valor: The Art of War. The Path of Peace." (Part II of the Windflower Saga trilogy). It features a royal family with young children aged from toddlers to twelve years old, their friends, and their animals including horses, ponies, a dog, a cat, and three parrots. Golden Skye is the name of a beautiful golden warhorse mare sent to Queen Keridwen as a gift. In the stable of the Royal Palace, she makes many new friends. Everyone liked her. She was gentle yet brave, calm yet strong, playful yet ready to work hard. Whenever her friends needed help, they knew they could count on her, and Skye becomes involved in several adventures. This book introduces young readers to the characters of King Leofric and Queen Keridwen, the protagonists of "Of Wisdom and Valor" at a stage in their lives when they have only their youngest children at home, and are themselves becoming grandparents for the first time. The story takes place over a four year period, and the older children are sixteen years old by the end of it and ready to embark on their young adult lives. The story gives examples of family and friendship, the care of animals, and qualities of patience, steadfastness, and courage. This edition differs from the first edition in size (8"x10" rather than #6x9"), format (color rather than black and white), additional illustrations, and the addition of the short story "Fly, Percy, Fly!" which tells the true life story of Percy the parrot, for whom a fictional parrot character in "Golden Skye" is named.

Our Wonderful You

by Connor Lonning, Kealy

OUR WONDERFUL YOU is a heartfelt celebration, of the deep love that parents have for their child. The book has rhyming text, with detailed, beautiful illustrations, that will delight both children and adults. This is a TRUE STORY! Kealy Connor Lonning is inspired to write about her six children, and this book is about her firstborn son.The new parents were thrilled:Our newborn had arrived--a special gift to hold. We're glad you joined our world--our treasure, yes, our gold. This touching story follows a baby growing up, through the toddler, childhood, and teen years, graduation, and beyond. The parents lovingly guide his journey, as he develops confidence, wisdom, and pride. Parents can relate to the stages and emotions, including the bittersweet time, when their big kid leaves home. As these parents send their beloved son, out into the world, they say to be kind and brave, and follow all your dreams. And at the end of the story, you will see, that is what he does! This lucky child, unconditionally loved by parents and grandparents, resonates with kids who get to see/hear the story.OUR WONDERFUL YOU can be shared with the special child in your life! Old-Fashioned Egg Hunt

by Verna Hargrove

Now at age 81, Verna Hargrove reminisces about her childhood experiences living on a farm in Colorado during World War II. The memories include an ice box instead of a refrigerator. Drinking water came from a cistern, and food was cooked on a wood stove. Remembering an Easter egg hunt on the farm has been most peaceful and precious to her.The Easter egg hunt was a family affair with grandparents, uncles and aunts. The most fun was playing with cousins. I hope you enjoy this fond memory.

VACATION TO ANCIENT EGYPT

by Anne Elizabeth Nixon

Ancient Egypt is seen through the eyes of the author as she and her son visit in 1980. On a camel ride out into the desert scattered with huge pyramids, they're invited into the tent of an old Egyptian man who serves them tea—and she wonders, have their cups ever been washed?
She tells of their travel by rail from Frankfurt, Germany, with a day's stopover in Rome, Italy, and along the coast of Greece to Athens; then by air they are off to Cairo.
After a few days in that ancient city they rent a car to begin a trip south through small towns along the Nile River to Luxor. The Karnak Temple has stood there for over a thousand years and its ruins are spectacular, as is the light show that reflects into a lake. One day they ride to the sweltering Valley of the Queens, and the next day into the Valley of the Kings—on stubborn little (sure-footed?) donkeys. Their luxurious Winter Palace Hotel is all but empty in the over 100 degrees of August, and consequently they are catered to like VIPs!
The Egyptian people are welcoming, and their warmth and interest in knowing Americans is obvious in how they name themselves and their camels after our famous people!
This is a book adults and young people will enjoy.

The Night Hikers: A True Story of Three Boys' Adventure, Survival and Friendship

by Obaidur Rahaman

Three boys, immature, inexperienced and recklessly overenthusiastic, set off on a hike. Their goal is to decipher the secret entrance to a deserted historic fort at a hilltop in the Indian jungle. They are convinced that they can do it without the help of a map or a local guide. Figuring out the hidden path that leads up to an otherwise unscalable fort is great fun. It is even more fun when it is done in the night, under the cover of darkness, just like the invaders who attempted to conquer the fort in the past! But as soon as they start their journey, something mysterious starts to happen. Time starts playing with them, things go wrong at every step. However, instead of stopping them, the setbacks and misfortunes rather fuel their zeal and determination. They ignore all the bad omens and continue on the inauspicious journey. But what happens to the three boys on this fateful night hike? What happens when they get entrapped in the hill with no way out? What happens when they run out of water? (This is a true story about three second year college students of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay during a night hike in the year 2000)
