EYESHA AND THE GREAT ELEPHANT GATHERING: Animal Adventure with Fun Facts about Sri Lankan Elephants (Suitable for age 6 - 9)

by Nadishka Aloysius

Eyesha the baby elephant visits the Minneriya Tank with her family for the first time to experience the annual Great Gathering. Curious and adventurous, she makes new friends - but will she be able to stay out of trouble?
Set in the dry zone of the island paradise Sri Lanka, this story introduces the reader to the world of the Asian wild elephant. All the descriptions and background information is researched and accurate, and meant to educate.
Elephants, like so many other wild animals in the world, are endangered and only about 6000 now survive in their natural habitat in Sri Lanka. The rise of tourism, habitat encroachment by villages and an increased demand for 'tamed' elephants in pageants has lead to the escalation of the human - elephant conflict in the country.
This book hopes to provide a glimpse into the behaviour and lifestyle of these majestic and intelligent creatures, who are among the cleverest in the animal kingdom. The saying 'Elephants never forget' has been proved true by scientists who have studied the physical and emotional developments of these giants.
Foreigners and locals who wish to see these animals are encouraged to visit the Minneriya National Park during the months of April - October to experience one of the wonders of the natural world, the Great Elephant Gathering. This annual event brings together hundreds of elephants from all over the island and it is a phenomenon not to be missed by the nature lover.
The author has made every effort to describe the behaviour of these hundreds as they play, relax and mate.
So enjoy the book, and book the next flight to Sri Lanka to see for yourself this annual gathering of the great . . .

Twisted: The Girl Who Uncovered Rumpelstiltskin's Name

by Bonnie M Hennessy

The mystery of Rosamund Hodge’s Crimson Bound meets the romance of the best Beauty and the Beast retellings. An old tale tells the story of how a little man named Rumpelstiltskin spun straw into gold and tricked a desperate girl into trading away her baby. But that’s not exactly how it happened. The real story began with a drunken father who kept throwing money away on alcohol and women, while his daughter, Aoife, ran the family farm on her own. When he gambled away everything they owned to the Duke, it was up to her to spin straw into gold to win it all back. With her wits and the help of a magical guardian, she outsmarted the Duke and saved the day. Well almost…Her guardian suddenly turned on Aoife and sent her on a quest to find his name, the clues to which were hidden deep in the woods, a moldy dungeon, and a dead woman’s chamber. Her feelings for one of the men who tricked her from the start threaten to complicate everything. Not the tale of a damsel in distress, this is the story of a tenacious, young woman who solved a mystery so great that not even the enchanted man who spun straw into gold could figure it out. Not until Aoife came along.

Brees - Miracle On Rader Drive

by Denis Baker

How A Loving Black And Tan Thoroughbred Dachshund Filly Named Brees Changed The Lives Of Her Mom And Dad.

2/8/10 – 3/21/13 12:03 PM

This book is in memory of Brees, a very special companion, who in the three short years that she was with us changed our lives forever.

Brees entered our lives in such a remarkable unlikely manner, nothing short of a Miracle, which is where the title of the book came from Brees – Miracle On Rader Drive.

When Brees came to us, her age was estimated to be around 10 years old. Shortly thereafter, she was diagnosed with COPD, a progressive breathing disease, which required regular health check ups and an assortment of medicines. Brees was on a mission to teach us valuable lessons, and it required our help to keep her healthy, active, and feeling good. Brees never once complained, a real lady she was, her tail wagging and happy to the very end. Her Mom was the first to greet her into the family on 2/8/10, and she died in her Dad’s arms naturally and peacefully on 3/21/13 at 12:03 PM.

Brees was a teacher at heart. She always seemed to have a lesson plan prepared and ready for what it was she wanted us to learn that day. Almost always, it centered around the Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

Brees meant so much to us. She taught us and showed us about living by the way she lived, acted, treated us, loved us, trusted us, showed her affection and loyalty towards us, accepted our love, and also by the way she got along with other dogs, children, and grown ups.

The things we miss most about Brees are her companionship, friendship, love, and the way she could look at us with those dark brown eyes. She always wanted to be right in the middle of what we were doing. We were connected in mind and spirit. The saying, “Dog is man’s best friend,” really is true. Brees was surely that, our best friend. Brees was a true blessing to us. One we dearly miss but will never forget.

Do you believe there will be dogs in Heaven? We do. See you soon Baby Girl!

Shortly after Brees passed away, we started investigating her life before we had her. A special thank you to Rhonda for providing us with information on Brees’ prior history.

Inspiration at Riverdale Terrace: Alicia: Rediscovered Faith

by Charlotte Turner

Inspiration at Riverdale Terrace – Claire’s life is about to change. Will she be ready to listen, open her heart, and embraced a chance to give her life a meaningful purpose where her talents will shine?Sometimes it’s hard to see where God is at work. For instance, if you were to walk past a rundown apartment complex on a corner in New York City, you might notice the homeless girl shivering on the stoop. You might hear the cries of a baby upstairs or loud music from the second floor. There’s nothing in the cracked windows, dusty bricks, or peeling paint at Riverdale Terrace to show that God is indeed hard at work within these walls. Alicia lost her faith the day her mother died, eight years ago. Now 24, she lives with her twin brother and her drunken father in Riverdale Terrace, where the cockroaches skitter, and you can smell despair in the hallway, like cigarettes and beer. Fending for herself all this time, Alicia thinks she knows all about life. Keep your head down, and get through the day. That’s all there is to it. Josh doesn’t see it that way. He’s fresh out of college, working to help a new minister start a youth outreach program at the neighborhood church. He has optimism, energy, and faith. And when he sees Alicia, he wants to share his message – and his life – with her. With God’s help, can Josh show this tough and introverted girl a better way to live? Can he convince her to use her talent to enrich her own life, and the lives of others?Download FREE with Kindle Unlimited!Read on your favorite devices such as Kindle, IPhone, IPad, Android cellular phone, tablet, laptop, or computer with Amazon's free reading Kindle App.Scroll back up and click the BUY NOW button at the top right side of this page for an immediate download!

In it the "one take" theory is put forth and an honest attempt is made to get a clearer view of Roger Patterson's place in history. The "one take theory" explains how extremely difficult it would have been for Roger Patterson to have created such an extremely convincing film.

Jeepers Keepers!

by Lex Fraser

Jack hates everything about his new school; the building, the teachers, the lessons and, even more than anything else, the captain of the school football team, Jayden Hughes. For some unknown reason, Hughes has decided to makes it his life’s mission to give Jack a hard time, both in class and out on the football pitch.

However, football is Jack’s passion and he is determined not to let Hughes get in the way of his one and only goal – which is to be the first choice school team goalkeeper. Jack has both the enthusiasm and the talent, but unfortunately not a pair of goalkeeping gloves. This is mainly down to a lack of funds – a fact that Hughes gleefully jumps on and uses to taunt Jack.

Despite Christmas being only a week away, the likelihood of Jack getting his hands on – or into – a pair of gloves is very slim. Well, that is until Uncle Mikey pays the Bensons a visit and comes bearing gifts. And for Jack, a very special and magical gift...

A novelette from Lex Fraser – part of the Skull and Crossbones collection (spooky stories aimed at readers aged between 9 and 12) from Strawberry Towers Publishing.

About the Author:

In Civvy Street, Lex Fraser is a partner in a small recruitment company, but writes to keep the chaps with the oversize butterfly nets from the front door.

Surely, the recruitment industry cannot be so terrible? Oh, yes – and far worse than the normal, everyday Joe could ever imagine! However, having to deal day to day with endless recruitment torment is simply grist to the mill for a writer of fiction!

Lex, along with his teacher wife and two crazy children, live in a rather plain red-brick house nestling in the middle of the Aire Valley, ten miles west of the city of Leeds. The facade may be plain, but if you listen to Lex and his family, you will come to the very sudden conclusion that nothing at all is plain about Fraser Towers! Be it the ghostly knocking on the walls, bodiless footsteps across the kitchen floor, cries from the cellar and, the scariest of them all, the ghost of the crooked old man pleading to escape from an upstairs bedroom!

Absolutely Location, Location, Location for Lex and his keyboard – but please spare a thought for his poor, longsuffering family!
