The Boy Who Fell from the Sky (The House Next Door Book 1)

by Jule Owen

The Boy Who Fell from the Sky is the first of a mind-twisting new YA dystopian seriesTop 15 in Wattpad Science Fiction HotlistThe world is falling apart in 2055. Another flood has devastated London and it’s the eve of the First Space War. With the city locked down, sixteen-year-old Mathew Erlang is confined to his house with only his cat, his robot and his holographic dragons for company. Desperate for a distraction from the chaos around him, Mathew becomes fascinated by his peculiar and reclusive neighbour, August Lestrange. Mathew begins to investigate Mr. Lestrange, turning to the virtual world of the Nexus and Blackweb for answers. But as he digs deeper, Mathew realises that Mr. Lestrange doesn’t seem quite human. When Mathew accidentally finds himself trapped in Lestrange’s house, he opens a door and falls four hundred years into the future. Unwittingly, he starts to destabilise the course of human history.A 1984 for a new generation, The Boy Who Fell from the Sky delves into a future where climate change and technology have transformed the world. It is the first book in The House Next Door trilogy, a young adult dystopian science fiction action adventure. Mathew’s story continues in Silverwood. The stakes are raised for Mathew. His mother’s life is on the line. He must break into his own future to try and find an answer.Silverwood is now available on Amazon. Get it next!˃˃˃ Interview with AuthorQ. What made you want to write YA time travel fiction?I love books like the Hunger Games and Divergent. I also love books like Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking and Chuck Wendig’s Heartland Trilogy. They are all exciting, deeply engaging dystopian action adventure series. They all make you stop and think. So I wanted to write something similar. But I’ve been reading about futurology and climate change for years and they have seeped into my subconscious. I liked the idea of exploring possible futures based on the non-fiction I’d be reading. To do that I needed Mathew Erlang, my main character, to be able to jump forward into the future to see how things turn out.Q. Why specifically write teen dystopia? Why not write for adults?I’m not sure I am specifically writing just for teens. I read a lot of young adult fiction and I’m certainly not a teen! But when I built the world and the much bigger story that Mathew’s tale exists in, he happened to turn out to be a teenaged boy at the beginning of his series.Q. So is there a bigger story beyond Mathew’s then?Oh yes. There’s much bigger story and more books to come! You need to find out more about the Lamplighter, the Kind and understand more about who Mr. Lestrange really is.Q. You describe your books at cli-fi. What does that mean?Cli-fi means climate change fiction. It’s a spin on sci-fi, of course, but it’s a type of dystopian science fiction or speculative fiction that specifically deals with the impact of climate change on the people of the future.Q. Why did you want to write about climate change? It’s the big issue of our times and the biggest challenge we’ve faced as a civilisation. There’s a huge scientific consensus about the fact that climate change is man made and that it is likely to massively disrupt our lives in the future, but lots of people don’t believe in it. I read an article a while ago in The New Scientist (which is my favourite magazine) saying that the climate change lobby needs more artists and writers to go and spread the message. Frighteningly, young people, who are likely to suffer the most in the future, are particularly not engaging with the issue.Q. When will the next one in the series be out?The third and final part, The Moon at Noon will be out in December 2015. Look out for the box-set in early 2016.

Frog and Witch Book 1: What Happens When They Meet a Dragon (Frog and Witch Children's Story Books)

by Pippa Fry

When the villagers ask Grazunda and Blump to help rid the village of a dragon, the outcome is not at all what the villagers were expecting!Grazunda is a very modern teenage witch. She doesn't wear grotty old clothes and she doesn't have warts. The peak of a baseball cap can just be seen poking out from under her witch’s hat and beneath her shawl she wears a black T-shirt, on which there is the logo 'Wake Up and Smell the Spell'. The ensemble is finished off with black jeans and a pair of heavy boots. She came top of her class at the Arlene Swagglehorn College of Witchcraft and thought that the world would offer her its riches. But fate has a different path for Grazunda in Little-Mud-Pie-in-the-Mold.Blump is a frog who is not only short in stature but who is also short in words. Blump's motto is “why say it in one word when none will do quite nicely!” He can usually be found inventing things in the shed at the back of Grazunda's cottage. He wears a grubby khaki coloured lab-coat, out the bottom of which stick his large shoeless feet. Under the grubby coat, he wears a surprisingly white shirt and a red bow tie that has white spots on it. He has a grey flat cap on his head and always seem to be carrying a satchel, that hangs from his shoulder. Everyone in the village would like to know what he keeps in the satchel but they are too frightened to ask, just in case it's something a bit nasty!

Woodpeckers: The carpenters of the forest in Italy (La voliera senza sbarre Book 2)

by Giampietro Lanzanova

The Woodpeckers are widespread, they live in our woods, but they are not willing to be observed willingly. They work wood as if they were carpenters. In their abandoned nests, other tenants find their home. In spring it is wonderful to listen to their drumming, it is easier to listen to them than to see them. They are very fascinating animals. These photos were taken in unprotected areas near Rome.

Saving Allison

by J. Stoute

At the difficult age of 14, Allison Perkins is ready to give it all up.

Throughout school Allison had always been on the thinner side, battling with her weight in a war she couldn't win. Her classmates were as cruel as you'd expect—choosing to ignore her existence or, when they did notice her, taunting her mercilessly.

Deciding that a short drop and a quick stop is the only solution, she ties the noose, climbs the ladder, and prepares to meet her end.

She hadn't expected Jordan—her 18-year-old guardian angel—to show up and free her from the noose. Jordan shows Allison glimpses of the future—of what might be, if she lived, and what would come if she didn't. Knowing what she now knows, Jordan gives her the greatest gift: the choice to live, with the possibility of the future she saw; or to die here, alone, swinging from a noose.

Can Allison believe the visions that Jordan shows her, and continue living with the relentless nature of her peers? Can she really take that final step, and end her own life after all? Leaps of faith are much more difficult than leaps of fate.

Ketogenic Diet: The Complete Ketogenic Diet For Beginners + Delicious Keto Recipes , Weight Loss Challenge, Keto Diet Diabetic, Keto Diet Air Fryer

by AK Publications

If you’re brand new to the concept of a ketogenic diet, you need a cookbook that goes into detail about this high-fat eating plan. Ketogenic Diet: The Step by Step Guide For Beginners by AK PUBLICATIONS does just that, breaking down the basics of keto in a beginner-friendly guidebook. The Ketogenic Diet cookbook contains numerous helpful resources to jumpstart your keto diet. You’ll find an in-depth explanation of a ketogenic lifestyle, as well as meal planning guides, grocery lists, weight loss principles, food lists, and more. The book does contain several recipes, including nutritional breakdowns, but it is definitely not as recipe-heavy as some of the other cookbooks. This book is a comprehensive beginner’s guide, providing a detailed breakdown on how to get started on a keto diet, and reviewers agree that it’s a resourceful tool for absolute novices. Users say the recipes are delicious, but if you’re looking for a recipe bible, this might not be the best option for you.How We TestedOur reviewers spent three hours testing a top-rated keto cookbook. To get the most comprehensive results, they used it to cook a variety of recipes while sticking to a keto diet. We asked our testers to consider the most important features when using this cookbook, from difficulty level to quality of the meals. We've outlined the key takeaways here so that you, too, know what to look for when shopping. What to Look for in a Keto CookbookExperience level: If you’re just starting out with the keto diet, you’ll probably need more guidance and explanation of the transition process, which some cookbooks offer. More experienced keto devotees, on the other hand, might prefer a cookbook that’s light on guidance and heavy on recipes.Meal plans: Another helpful feature of keto cookbooks is pre-made meal plans. It can be challenging to plan out a whole week of meals on a low-carb diet, so some cookbooks include weekly meal plans and shopping lists to make your life a whole lot easier. However, if you like coming up with your own weekly menu, this feature might not be for you.Equipment: Finally, many keto cookbooks are focused on recipes that can be made in certain appliances, such as slow cookers and Instant Pots. These types of recipes can be incredibly convenient — but only if you have the equipment needed.

Smart Money Kids

by Hannah Raybans

Are you talking openly to your children about money?Instilling good money habits in your children is arguably one of life’s most important lessons. As parents we want our children to grow up to be financially secure and debt-free.One topic that many parents want their child to learn about is financial literacy. In the #1 Bestseller A QUEST OF HEROES, Thorgrin, a special 14 year old boy, the least loved of his father, learns he has powers he does not understand. An outsider, he must fight for acceptance as he strives to become a warrior, to join the King’s Legion, and as he falls in love with the king’s 16 year old daughter. Most of all, he must learn who he really is, and why his destiny is so important.

“THE SORCERER’S RING has all the ingredients for an instant success: plots, counterplots, mystery, valiant knights, and blossoming relationships replete with broken hearts, deception and betrayal. It will keep you entertained for hours, and will satisfy all ages. Recommended for the permanent library of all fantasy readers.”

The #1 Bestseller, RISE OF THE DRAGONS, tells the epic coming of age story of Kyra, 15, who dreams of becoming a famed warrior, like her father, though she is the only girl in a fort of boys. She struggles to understand her special skills and mysterious inner power, and comes to realize she is different than the others. But a secret is being kept from her about her birth and the prophecy surrounding her, leaving her only to wonder. When Kyra comes of age and her father tries to wed her off, she refuses and journeys out on her own, into a dangerous wood, where she encounters a wounded dragon—and ignites a series of events that will change the kingdom forever.

“RISE OF THE DRAGONS succeeds—right from the start…. A superior fantasy…It begins, as it should, with one protagonist's struggles and moves neatly into a wider circle of knights, dragons, magic and monsters, and destiny.…All the trappings of high fantasy are here, from soldiers and battles to confrontations with self….A recommended winner for any who enjoy epic fantasy writing fueled by powerful, believable young adult protagonists.”
